Rare Metals

Vanadium

Vanadium is a metal stronger than iron, resistant to both heat and wear. It is widely used as an additive to enhance steel performance. Vanadium is utilized in components requiring long-term durability under harsh conditions. Examples include automobile bodies, bridges, building reinforcing bars, power plant turbines, and cutting tools.
In addition to being mined from ore, vanadium is also frequently recovered (recycled) from steel slag. This means that its production volume is influenced by steel production levels.
Major global producers include China, Russia, and South Africa.
