Tellurium

Tellurium is a metalloid in the same group as selenium on the periodic table. It is typically recovered as a byproduct during copper refining.
Although its production volume is low compared to other metals, bismuth telluride, a compound of bismuth and tellurium, is used in the cooling function of refrigerators.
The chemical symbol Te comes from the Latin word tellus, meaning “Earth.” Directly above tellurium on the periodic table is selenium (Se), which is derived from the Greek word selene, meaning “Moon.”
